“I love my job”!

Variety is the primary reason I love the freelance world!  The diversity of shoots... from the high-end corporate job to the major breaking national news story, from shooting in a California prison for a national TV show to 10 hours later floating down a lazy river in Guyana for a documentary.  This is the life I love.  Being pushed to always be ready for whatever is thrown my way.  Always striving to do the best for whatever the project is.   From the story-telling aspect to the best angle to convey the message.  From working with the most basic crew to being DP in a crew of 60!  Maybe versatility is a better word to use...

Having the right tools with me is also important.  That’s why in the last 5 years we have re-invested in the “toys” that help get the right shot, in the minimal amount of time.  So many times during a shoot something comes up that wasn’t planned.  Being able to “pull the rabbit out of a hat”, or in our terms the “right piece of gear out of the van” really makes my day.  It’s great to know we came prepared to make someone’s project better than they envisioned it.
